Growing up, one of my mother’s favourite sayings was, ” If you have nothing nice to say to each other, then don’t say anything!” She would often say this to silence the very frequent sibling quarrels that would arise, particularly in the car. Today I say to you, if you have nothing nice to say about your life, then don’t say anything.
Your Words, Your Life
Did you know your words are creative by nature. Your words literally create your life! Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His own image (exact likeness). Therefore, to understand how we operate, we must understand how God operates. Remember the Word of God is our alphabet for success. From this alphabet, we know that God created the universe and all that is in it by first speaking His famous words, ” Let there be.” He created everything by speaking it into existence. So it is with you and me. We speak into existence that which we see in our lives. If your life is a series of negativity and failures, you need to check your words. Why? Because it’s most likely that you have spoken that negativity into existence.
The Word of God reminds us repeatedly that we can either build up or destroy our lives with our words. Proverbs 18:20-21(KJV) highlights this very well:
A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
When Jesus walked on earth, He was very clear as to what His purpose was. From John 3:16 and John 10:10, we know that He was sent to earth to bring life. So what did He do about His purpose? He spoke it into existence, as per John 6:63 (AMP):
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh conveys no benefit (it is of no account). The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life (providing eternal life).
If you are to achieve any form of success in your life, you have to speak aloud that which you have began to meditate upon (see Luke 6:45, NIV).
Happy speaking 😊
