Learning the Language of Success III

work success

” This is your year of breakthrough!” And the church says Amen. ” This is the year you will drive that car!” ” This week the Lord will open a door of promotion for you!” And we chorus, Amen!
How many times, as Christians, have we shouted emphatic ‘Amens’ to declarations, only for us to go back to the same ol’ life? If you are anything like me, you have shouted ‘Amen’ more times than you can count and have even forgotten half, if not all, of the promises you have received from the altar. And if you are honest with yourself, you have probably hoped such declarations would be the short cut to success.
Can I let you in on a secret? The reason your ‘Amen’ does not seem to be changing your fortunes is because you HAVE to work at success if you want to manifest it.

Let the Church say Amen Work

All my life, I knew that God created man for worship. This is true. However, God also created man to work. Genesis 2:15 (NIV) reveals this to us:

The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

After He created man to work, He put in place a spiritual principle that is still at work today. This principle is that man will eat from his work.

And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;
Gen 2:16 ( NIV)

For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
2 Thes 3:10 (NIV)

Work is the last layer of the language of success that we must learn. We were created to work! Sitting back and doing nothing goes against the very core of who we are. Often times we half expect God to work on our behalf and magically drop success from heaven to us. But, as we can see from the above two mirrors, God expects us to work and to eat from our labour and not the labour of others.
I am yet to meet or even hear of a person who has become successful by shunning work. The Word of God (our alphabet of success) emphasizes that when one is not diligent in their work, they open the door for poverty.

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
 Proverbs 10:4 (NIV)

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Proverbs 14:23 (NIV)

Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.

Proverbs 28:19 (NIV)

Remember, the Lord promised to bless the work of our hands.
What area of your life do you want to succeed in? Find Scripture that speaks to that specific area, daily meditate on that Scripture, speak it into your life and then work on that area. If you do this, then nothing you plan will be impossible for you.

Happy working 😊
