Love Under Light

Love under light

Born of God

Love…there are so many misconceptions about love. Everyone has their definition of what love is. The media often tries to paint an image of what love looks like, or should look like. We have allowed our experiences to dictate to us how love should operate. But today, I ask that you would continue on this love journey, as we place love under light. For love, true love, can only be understood from the platform of light.
We have previously seen that God is actually Love (1 John 4:8). We know that we were created in the image of God, meaning that we were created in the image of Love.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Genesis 1:26-27(KJV)

Therefore, at our very core, we are love, created in the image and after the likeness of Love. This means therefore, we cannot understand who we truly are, if we do not understand who He is. We cannot understand love if we do not understand Love.

And we will definitely not understand Love from the world’s distorted view. No, we will need to go back to the very beginning for proper understanding of Love and love.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:1-5 (KJV)

In the beginning, we encounter the Word of God. Therefore, we need to see what He says about love. Why?

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Love originates from God

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:7 (NIV)

The Apostle John brings an interesting concept of love. Not only does it originate from God, but it can only be known by those who have been born of God.
And who are these who have been born of God?

He (Christ) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession], and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him. But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].
John 1:10-13 (Amp)

Those born of God are those who have accepted Christ. Therefore, the requirement to truly know Love and love, is to accept the gift of Love! How amazing is that?

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 (KJV)

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
1 John 4:9 (NKJV)

Another interesting concept is brought up by the above mirrors, and that is the link between love and life. Acceptance of God’s love gift results in life for the child born of God. Therefore you cannot seperate love from life.

Love Lives Inside

What happens when you accept the gift of Love?

In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and (as a result) believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit ( the One promised by Christ) as owned and protected (by God).
Ephesians 1:13 (Amp)

What does this have to do with love?

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5 (NIV)

Love dwells in us, through the Holy Spirit. Need further proof?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
