Joining the (My) Wealth Journey program was not just a good idea, it was a God idea. It is a choice that has had a profound, measurably and deeply powerful impact on multiple facets of my life.
Prior to committing to this one-on-one coaching process, I thought I was doing ok with money. I wasn’t in any serious debt. I consistently kept a budget for quite a number of years. I had savings. I had invested a little bit in land and in the stock exchange. In my opinion, I wasn’t doing badly. But I had a strong sense that I wasn’t doing great either. I kept on feeling that I was just going with the flow. Picking up money management tips here and there as they came along. I had no clear plan. I had no goals. I had a deep sense that I wasn’t actually doing as great as I told myself and that I could do better. A sense of deliberateness and purpose in money management and wealth building was missing. I know now this was not just my mind but was the Holy Spirit leading me to rein in my complacency and take lead of my life.
Mirror Wealth Coaching took me through a process of auditing every facet of my life from a financial viewpoint in a most thorough yet gracious way. We developed my personal financial vision and goals, challenged my spending habits, dove into my debt issues, reviewed my investment risk appetite and mapped out my savings against my goals amongst other things. The program enabled me to have a full understanding of my personal financial space and compare it against what I wanted to achieve and the opportunities I had to do that.
Some of the things learned and behavior change implemented :
- I learned that I needed to setup an emergency fund as my highest priority in preparation for life’s realities. I learned how to do that based on where I was. This helped me significantly when the economic crisis of 2020 came to light.
- I learned that I needed to steer away from mobile app loan debt to maintain my lifestyle. I learned practically how to live on what I had and nothing else. This helped me significantly to be able to accomplish the rest of my financial goals.
- I learned that I needed to be more detailed in how I track my spending and rein in poor spending habits that divert me from my goals. I learned that I can still enjoy life and it is possible to budget for fun and leisure spending. Live the life you want, just budget for it.
- I learned that I needed to find out about investment opportunities available to me directly from the source, compare options against each other and decide where to invest based on my financial vision and goals.
- I learned that past financial mistakes are just mistakes like any other. That God is not shocked by our financial mistakes. His grace is sufficient for them and the first step is in owning up to our shortcomings and seeking help from reputable resourceful people.
One year down the line I am still reaching out to Mirror Wealth for support in my personal wealth journey. It’s not just a program but Mirror Wealth has become a key thought partner in many of my financial decisions. I have found great value in seeking help to grow in an area where I desired to do better. Going through the process and putting my stuff in order has brought great peace and excitement when I think about my future. Regardless of what the economic situation may be at the moment, I thank God that I gained the tools and built the skills to be financially prudent and in many cases continue to build wealth one step at a time.
