Over the past 2 months we went through the series 10 Lessons from the World’s Wealthiest and Wisest Man. His name is King Solomon. But more important than the man is his God. There is so much truth that has been revealed about the God of King Solomon, who hopefully is your God. And all these truths can be wrapped up in this, ‘God is a Father.’
God had made a promise to King David about his son Solomon:
I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
2 Samuel 7:14-15(NIV)
And this is the same assurance we have in Christ:
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John 1:12-13 (NIV)
We see this reality of fatherhood revealed throughout the course of Solomon’s life.
1.God named him Jedidiah which means loved by the Lord (2 Samuel 12:24-25).
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
Ephesians 3:14-15 (NIV)
From the above Scripture, you too have been named by God.
2. God ensured that Solomon achieved the purpose for which he was created ( 1 Kings 1:1-48).
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Philippians 2:13
He will always ensure that we fulfill the purpose for which He created us.
3. Out of His own pleasure, God gave Solomon the gift of wisdom that he had requested. In addition, God gave Solomon great wealth just because He wanted to (1 Kings 3:6-13).
Jesus assures us that God our Father continues to be a generous gift giver:
If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.

I especially love the fact that He has not placed a limit on the asking ☺
4. God offered guidance to Solomon ( 1 Kings 3:14 and 9:1-9). He also offered him guidance through wisdom from his father King David (1 Kings 2:1-9).
Our Father grants us this same privilege.
because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God

5. When Solomon strayed, God disciplined him ( 1 Kings 11:11-12)
… My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
Hebrews 12:5-6 (NIV)
6. God never turned His back on Solomon. He did not abandon him or take back the gifts He had given him. He proved Himself faithful to Solomon just as He had promised King David in 2 Samuel 7:15.
God who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord is faithful.
1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV)
You can put your complete and total trust in your Father who will remain faithful to you even when you are not faithful to Him (Romans 3:3-4)
7. God loved Solomon. It did not matter what Solomon did or did not do. God’s love for him was unconditional and ever present (2 Samuel 7:15).
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Is God your Father? If not, do you want Him to be your Father? He offers this privilege to all who come to Him. And the best part is that this gift is offered to all. It does not matter how “bad” you think you are, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). He wants you to be His child, just as you are.
So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.

The Father celebrates when you come to Him!
How do you come to the Father?
You come through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus answered, ” I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:6(NIV)
This is called the gift if salvation and it is available to every single person. To access this gift, all you have to do, as per Romans 10:9, is to confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that that God raised Him from the dead.
That is it! It is that simple and it is free…God paid the price for this gift, all you have to do is to receive it.
